To guarantee a completely violent-free election, the Election Commission started the “Mission Violence Free Election 2024” in Tripura on Monday. Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha announced the initiative’s launch and stated that the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and state forces had been conducting area dominance patrolling and 2,500 flag marches since last month in preparation for the state’s two Lok Sabha seat elections. He stated that throughout the previous month, several law enforcement agencies had confiscated various illegal products valued at Rs 9 crore.
According to State Chief Electoral Officer Puneet Agarwal, 83% of voters cast ballots in the previous Lok Sabha elections, and the goal for the 18th Lok Sabha polls is to surpass that number in 2019. He said that on April 10, “Home Voting” for voters who are old or otherwise able to cast a ballot would begin. Election officials stated that an eight-point strategic plan was developed by the authorities in order to achieve the “Mission Violence Free Election 2024.”
In order to ensure that citizens can cast their votes freely and without fear, the CAPF will continue to conduct flag and road marches. Additionally, security forces will be deployed well in advance of the election to allow them to become familiar with the area and set up appropriate checkpoints and nakas to monitor the illegal movement of arms and people who could taint the voting process. The Election Commission’s directives about several civil measures and the deployment of sufficient security personnel were followed by deterrent measures including webcasting the voting procedure, among others.
Attendees included Amitabh Ranjan, the director general of the Tripura Police, Home Secretary Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, G.S. Rao, the state police nodal officer, senior CAPF officials, as well as district magistrates and superintendents of police from each of the eight districts.
