The temporary protection granted to Bollywood star Jacqueline Fernandez in connection with the Rs 200 crore extortion case involving wealthy conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar has been extended by a Delhi court.

She showed up in front of the Patiala House court for the hearing as her bail was about to expire. Fernandez’s temporary protection order was extended by the court until November 10.

The court will hear the arguments on her normal bail plea on November 10. On that day, the documents will also be examined.

Recent filings by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) include a second additional charge sheet that names Fernandez as an accused. As witnesses in the case, Fernandez and another Bollywood actress, Nora Fatehi, had recorded their statements. The ED has previously seized fixed deposits belonging to Fernandez worth Rs 7.2 crore. The ED classified the actresses’ receipt of these gifts and properties as proceeds of crime.

Pinky Irani, who is claimed to be Chandrashekhar’s assistant and who allegedly introduced him to Bollywood actresses, was the target of the ED’s first supplemental prosecution charge, which was submitted in February.

According to the charge sheet, Pinky Irani allegedly used to pick out expensive presents for Fernandez and would then deliver them to her house after receiving payment from Sukesh Chandrashekhar. The ED presented Additional Sessions Judge Praveen Singh with the first charge sheet in this case in December of last year. The ED later filed an additional charge sheet against Irani in February. Chandrashekhar has spent about Rs 20 crore on several Bollywood stars and models. Some others had declined to accept his gifts.
