Numerous other Tamil Nadu districts, including Chennai, saw widespread heavy rainfall.As a result of Monday’s severe rain and thunderstorms, the state government of Tamil Nadu decided to close all schools in the following districts: Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, and Ranipet.
Chennai had widespread heavy rainfall last night. According to the India Meteorological Department, or IMD, Meenambakkam had 137.6 mm of rain between 8.30 am on Sunday and 5.30 am on Monday.Nearly 12 cm of rain were measured by automatic rain gauges (ARGs) in Taramani and Nandanam, followed by 11 cm in Chembarambakkam.The IMD predicts that on Monday, there will be light to moderate rain mixed with thunder and lightning in a number of locations in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
In addition to Puducherry and Karaikal, the Met department has forecast significant rainfall for 13 districts, including Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Thiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Trichy, Ariyalur, and Perambalur.
In some portions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, there is a chance of mild to moderate rain beginning on Tuesday and continuing through Thursday.
