A dramatic road incident in Gurugram has become one of India’s most widely discussed viral stories after footage showed a car colliding with a woman biker on Golf Course Road.
The biker, known online as Sia, has rejected the accused driver’s claim that the collision was accidental. In her account, she alleged that the occupants of the car harassed and followed the bikers before the collision. She has also questioned why the driver allegedly left the scene instead of stopping immediately after the crash.
The case escalated sharply on Tuesday after police arrested the accused, Kalyan Bainsla, in Rajasthan. Following analysis of CCTV footage, Gurugram Police added Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relating to attempt to murder, significantly raising the legal stakes.
The accused’s side has disputed the allegations. His lawyer has argued that the viral clips do not show the complete sequence of events and has accused the biker of portraying the incident selectively. The investigation is continuing, and competing versions of what happened remain at the centre of the controversy.
The story has gone far beyond a single traffic incident because the footage has triggered a larger discussion about road rage, harassment of women motorists, hit-and-run cases and the role of social media in forcing police action.
