Sameer Wankhede, zonal director of the Mumbai unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), met with National Commission for Scheduled Caste chairman Vijay Sampla in New Delhi where he stated that if the documents related to him are found to be in order, the commission will ensure that his rights are upheld.
According to the reports, after Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Nawab Malik alleged that the NCB chief is a Muslim who forged his caste certificate in order to qualify for the civil services under the Scheduled Caste quota, Sameer Wankhede’s meeting with the NSCS chairman follows after.
The meeting follows days after Sameer Wankhede met with NCSC vice-chairman Arun Halder in Mumbai on October 31 and handed over an application to him. They stated they have sent a notice on October 19 Maharashtra government to give a response, but we haven’t got a response now.
Vijay Sampla said, “However, Sameer Wankhede is disturbed with the media reports and hence he met us. He shared that he belongs from the SC community and based on this he got his job. If we find the documents related to Sameer Wankhede are correct, we will ensure his rights are upheld.”
