According to a decision made by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), the inventory and counting of treasures kept in the Ratna Bhandar of the Shree Jagannath Temple, which started today, will continue for a total of nine days in May. Officials said that in addition to today and tomorrow, the inventory exercise will take place on May 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, and 30. The procedure has been planned for nine days throughout the month.
After over fifty years, the Ratna Bhandar, the shrine’s 12th-century treasury, was once again inventoried. The procedure include tallying and recording decorations, jewels, and ceremonial items kept in various Treasury chambers. The Chalanti Bhandar, which stores decorations for everyday rituals, and the Bahara Bhandar, which keeps ornaments and materials used during various religious events, have already been counted and inventoried, according to officials.
Following this, the inventorisation of the Bhitara (inner) Ratna Bhandar began on April 14 this year. However, before the commencement of the annual Chandan Yatra festival, only around 20 per cent of the valuables and materials inside the inner treasury could be inventoried. The remaining inventorisation work is now set to continue on the newly scheduled dates under the supervision of the temple administration.
