Author and Poet, Debjyoti is professionally a teacher of English language and literature residing in Kolkata, India. A prolific writer who writes poems and short stories in English and about various themes. He has authored a book of poems “Only for you, My Love”. Let us know more about him in this interview .
Q1) How did you understand your calling as an author ? What was your first writing experience ?

Ans. An author is such a person who thinks out of the box as he perceives everything in different light. I have always expressed as I feel and these feelings are relatable to my readers. Calling as an author is a great feeling for me. I feel more inspired to share my vivid experiences. As for my first writing experience, I started my writing journey when I was a teenager, my writings were published in vernacular magazines. My short story was also published in The Times of India, Kolkata edition. So, definitely it was a great feeling for me always. In 2020, during pandemic lockdown, two poems of mine were selected for inspiring humanity worldwide by a London based international NGO. Thus came the Humanitarian Award from them and I had been recognised as a Poet and Author. Then offers to write started pouring in from the Publishers and Compilers. Till now I have co-authored more than forty anthologies.
Q2) How did you decide the plot for “Only for you my Love”. Give us a short brief about the book . Also attach the link of your book.
Ans. To me love holds a different meaning. Although love has been defined in many ways but I think it’s very difficult to define properly. It’s a profound spiritual belonging for me. As I love poetry, and love to read Wordsworth, Keats, Byron, Shelley and also the works of Hafiz and Rumi etc. so, I think poetry is the best form to express love and thus came the plot for my book of love poems, “Only for you, My Love”. As for the book, there are fifty-one love poems where love is defined both spiritually and realistically, an expression of vivid poetic experiences in this economy driven materialistic world. The readers will find these poems relatable and easy to comprehend.https://amzn.eu/d/cdZcreC
Q3) Nowadays a majority of the youth is much more focused on social media rather than reading books. What is your view on this topic ?
Ans. Social media became an addiction to some and these people lose the power of creativity. But still there are some excellent creative works that I find in social media also. Actually we should make us aware how creatively we can use the social media for our numerous benefits. Reading books are very much essential, because books make us think more than social media and thinking leads us to creativity. Social media give both audio-visual experience and satisfy us as we enjoy both together. But books silently bring up a process of thought that we visualise in our minds and that opens our hearts to creativity. So, I hope the young generation should read more books and the parents should inspire them to read books.
Q4) You recently received Laureate Award for contribution in literature. Tell us about your experience

Ans. Definitely overwhelming experience. Thanks to all my readers, reviewers, friends and well wishers whose blessings have made this possible. I feel glad and greatful to the organiser of this award and specially the chief guest Mr. Ashoke Vishwanathan, the renowned filmmaker and director who handed me the award. I feel great and inspired that my literary endeavour has been recognised.
Q5) We know that there is a lot of hardwork that goes behind the launching of books .From preparing the final manuscript to writing the first draft till publishing. Tell us how your experience was and to whom would you dedicate your success in this entire process?

Ans. My journey of publishing was very enjoyable. Yes, I love hardwork for what I love and whom I love. Although it’s a hectic journey to keep an eye over every minute details but still I immensely enjoyed it from starting to end and when the book became live, it’s like a kingly feeling of victory. As for my success, everyone from my publisher, to my readers, friends and well wishers is involved but I would dedicate my success to my one and only very special person whose sometimes silent and sometimes loud expressions not only inspired me but also made my determination and dedication stronger to express my poetic experiences. Love you and thank you.
