On July 29, 2020, a thorough report from the All India Tiger Estimation (2018) was made public. The results of the fourth round of the country-level tiger status assessment, which was completed in 2018, show an increase with an estimated tiger population of 2,967 (with lower and upper limits of 2,603 and 3,346, respectively), in comparison to the previous country-level estimations from 2014, which had an estimate of 2,226, 2010, and 2006, which had an estimate of 1,411.

The government’s efforts through the NTCA, according to the report, have brought the tiger from the verge of extinction to a guaranteed path of recovery, as evidenced by the results of the quadrennial All India Tiger Estimation done in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018. In the Indian setting, “these results have revealed a healthy annual growth rate of tigers at 6%, which offsets natural losses and maintains tigers at the habitat’s carrying capacity level.””A population estimate of 12,582 leopards was reported in regions of the tiger landscape that had been studied in the status of leopards in India. Compared to the most recent assessment, which was completed in 2014, this increase is greater than 60% “It was amazing.
