India wrapped up its historic Paris Paralympics campaign with its best-ever finish, securing 18th place and a total of 29 medals, including 7 gold, 9 silver, and 13 bronze.
This impressive medal haul pushed India’s total Paralympic medal count past 50. A record 84 para-athletes participated in 12 sports disciplines, a significant increase from the 9 disciplines India competed in at the Tokyo 2020 Games. This achievement set numerous records and marked several groundbreaking “firsts” for India at the Paralympics:
– Deepthi Jeevanji: First intellectually impaired Indian athlete to win a Paralympic medal
– Kapil Parmar: Bronze in Judo
– Preethi Pal: Bronze in the women’s 100m T35 race
– Mariyappan Thangavelu: Bronze in High Jump
– Harvinder Singh: Gold in individual recurve para-archery
– Dharambir and Pranav Soorma: Gold and silver respectively in the men’s club throw F51 event
