Is Afternoon the best Time for Exercise ?

Those who can’t get up early but exercise during lunchtime can rejoice! According to a recent study, exercising in the middle of the day may reduce your risk of dying young more than exercising in the morning or at night. It looked at 92,000 people’s demographic and medical data from a UK biomedical database. Accelerometers kept track of the participants’ workouts for seven days, recording both their frequency and intensity. Researchers looked at mortality data over a number of years and found that over 3,000 (or 3%) of the participants had died, with over 1,000 dying of heart disease and 1,800 dying of cancer.

The study was released in the Nature Communications publication. According to the findings, researchers claimed that doing out in the middle of the day can make a person live longer than if they exercise at other times. However, regardless of when they got up and moved throughout the day, the men and women who most frequently engaged in moderate to vigorous physical activity (such as brisk walking) lived longer than those who rarely worked out. The team also observed links between noon activity and significantly improved chances of living longer.

Even though these associations were found in older people, men, and less physically active participants, they noted that they believed moderate to vigorous physical activity had the “potential to benefit public health.” Research has consistently stressed that any exercise regimen and time are preferable for extending lifespan and lowering risk of acquiring chronic diseases, regardless of timing and duration. Exercise has been shown to improve your mood, lower your blood pressure, improve your memory, and lengthen your life.
