With all of its effort, the Bharatiya Janata Party is trying to end the reigning Biju Janata Dal’s winning streak in Odisha. Prominent political figures from across the nation are still speaking at events and doing road shows in the state. Golak Mohapatra, the vice president of the BJP state branch, informed reporters on Tuesday that BJP President J P Nadda, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, and veteran actor Arun Govil—who portrayed Lord Ram in the renowned Ramayan TV serial directed by Ramanand Sagar—will be touring the state’s constituencies over the course of the next two days.
On May 22, Arun Govil, also known as “Ram,” would travel to the state and speak at three public gatherings in the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency’s Jaydev assembly segment and the towns of Champua and Telkoi in the Keonjhar district. On Wednesday, he has a roadshow planned in the Dhenkanal constituency. On May 22, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is also expected to travel to Odisha. He would first conduct a roadshow in the Deogarh seat before going to three polling places: Baramba in the Cuttack district, Choudwar, and Barbil in Keonjhar.
On May 23, BJP President J P Nadda will make another trip to Odisha. Four electoral meetings are planned for him to attend: Dhamnagar in the Bhadrak district, Barchana in the Jajpur district, Balikuda in the Jagatsinghpur district, and Karanjia in the Mayurbhanj district. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and a prominent BJP campaigner, is expected to visit Odisha on May 23 and speak at two public events on Thursday in the districts of Chilika and Mahanga.
Notably, Odisha is holding simultaneous elections for the assembly and Lok Sabha in four phases from May 13 to June 1.
