JSP Foundation: Touching lives beyond boundaries

Aligned with the core value of ‘passion for people’,  JSP foundation is dedicated to the cause of humanity by focusing on improving Human Development Index ( HDI ) across India consistently . The Foundation is the catalyst for social transformation by impacting lives of nearly three million People. The Foundation stood firmly by the needy during natural calamities & the pandemic and enabled lakhs of people to get back to normalcy through health care & livelihood protection and other social security measures.

Elucidating the contribution of JSP, he says the organisation has invested ₹55000 crore in Odisha in various locations in its business generating lakhs of direct abd indirect employment. The Company under the umbrella of its Social arm JSP Foundation has been undertaking multi dimensional and multi faceted sustainable social development projects in Chhatisgarh , Odisha, Jharkhand and now in Haryana in Anemia mukt Bharat to boost the quality of life of the Community . Responding to the clarion call of Hon Prime Minister of India to eliminate Tuberculosis in India, the JSP through its social arm JSP Foundation has joined with the Nation to combat Tuberculosis in above 3 eastern states under ” TB Mukt Bharat Programme”.

Education is one of the key areas where JSP has made a strong presence starting from pre-school education to University. Jindal Global University is adorning the crown of quality education hub.

JGU , the philanthropic initiative of Sri Naveen Jindal , Chairman of Jindal Steel & Power has been conferred with the status of Institution of Eminence by Min. Of Education of Govt of India and is ranked as no 1 Private University in India. OP Jindal University ( OPJU ) in Raigarh in Chhatisgarh has been awarded as the best emerging University in Chhatisgarh. Smt Shallu Jindal , the Chairperson of JSP Foundation is the Chancellor of OPJU. OPJindal Community College (OPJCC) which is currently operating in three states, serves to impart vocational skills in various trades and make students from underprivileged communities employable. The institute has contributed over 120,000 skilled youth to the national skill pool. Enshrined in the mantra of upscale, upgrade, value addition and sustainability, the organisation is consolidating institution building.

Health is another crucial area wherein JSP Foundation has been contributing massively. To improve maternal and child health, ‘Vatsalaya Project’ is being implemented in three states namely, Odisha, Chhatishgarh and Jharkhand. The project is being spearheaded by community based village women volunteers called ‘Swasthya Sanginis’. These Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) work on issues like safe motherhood, early child care and vaccination, adolescent health care, family planning and contraception, use of sanitary napkins, awareness of health and hygiene among community and children. As a result, the program has achieved 100% pregnancy registration, 100% institutional delivery and 98.3% immunisation of children .

‘Project Sneh’ rolled out by JSP Foundation aims at the provision of food, healthcare support for the undernourished children. JSP foundation has partnered with Rawa Academy’s Adruta Children home in Angul, Adivasi Vikas Samiti, Serenda and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in Barbil and local ICDS in Chhatishgarh. JSP Foundation is running 2 Children Homes , separately for Boys and Girls in Tamnar of Chhatisharh to nourish parentless and underprivileged Children.

JSP, through its Drinking water & Sanitation Programme is impacting 28 lakh people living in more than 700 villages in three states namely, Chhatishgarh , Odisha and Jharkhand.

The company is also implementing one of its flagship programme, the ‘Kishori Express’ to eliminate anaemia in adolescent girls in Nuh, Haryana under the Prime Minister’s Aspirational District Program. Kishori Express Programme has brought out more than 1 .5 lakh adolescent girls out of severe and moderate anemia in Odisha , Jharkhand and Haryana .

Under Asha the Hope Programme , the JSP Foundation has been rehabilitating 5000 + Children with Special needs and mainstreaming them in Chhatisgarh ,Odisha and Jharkhand.

JSP Foundation’s contribution to serve the Nation during the Pandemic needs the special mention. JSP supplied more than 5000 tonnes of Liquid Medical oxygen to several Hospitals across several Indian states for medical care of the covid patients under its CSR programme .
Intensifying the fight against Covid , the Women SHGs promoted by JSP Foundation stitched and distributed 500,000 face cover masks. In addition to that they also provided hand wash, sanitizers and soaps to 100000 families in three states. Besides providing dedicated treatments to covid patients through its two multi speciality hospitals , the Foundation set up 700 beds, equipped with Oxygen in Covid Care Centres having ICU and Ventilators in Chhatisgarh and Odisha and Jharkhand. JSP Foundation protected the livelihood of thousands of farmers and SHG Women by way of buy back of their produces and other social business models

Actualizing the vision of Mr Naveen Jindal for a Hunger Free India,
JSP foundation launched ‘Mission Zero Hunger’ in 7 States including its the business locations of JSP and New Delhi. Further to mitigate the plight of the needy, the foundation also supported institutions like old age homes, child care homes, shelter homes and homes for special children with dry food materials such as Rice, Dal, Oil, Jaggery, Poha, vegetables and other grocery items.The foundation provided 1000 meals every day to the migrant workforce in Delhi for more than 90 days . During the pandemic more than one million hot cooked meals were served by the Foundation to the needy ,underprivileged and socially vulnerable.

Nurturing the environment through soil conservation projects, planting mango and cashew orchard, planting more than 9 lakh trees on the community land outside the JSP ‘s plant boundaries, excavating 300 + water reservoir have been embraced by the JSP foundation

The noble deeds of philanthropy earned laurels and recognition for JSPL. On behalf of the foundation, Smt. Shallu Jindal was conferred with the India CSR Impact Leader in 2021. In 2019, she was conferred with the Golden Peacock Award for social and cultural leadership. She has also added multiple feathers to the gloriously adorned cap by receiving Mahatma award for leadership in Corporate Social Responsibility. For its outstanding services to Himanity during Covid , the CSR Journal Award was awarded to Jindal Steel & Power . The Award was delivered at Mumbai by HE Governor of Maharastra.

And as per recent announcement of Ministry of Corporate Affair, Govt of India dated 18th August 22, Jindal Steel & Power has been awarded with the National CSR Award , the Apex award for CSR in India.
