The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) deadline for farmers to register their names is July 31. On July 7th, this year, the State government released a notification inviting farmers who grow eight designated crops to apply for inclusion in Kharif 2024. With the active assistance of the district government, a record number of farmers enrolled under PMFBY in Kharif 2023, according to an official press release. Similar to the previous year, farmers must pay Re 1 for the application to be valid, and the State government will cover the farmer’s portion for land up to 2 hectares.
Given the aforementioned details, it is urged that the District Magistrates use every resource at their disposal to enhance the number of farmers registered under the program, thereby improving risk mitigation. At least 20% of the lands and farmers should be covered by this program during the next Kharif season, according to Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment.
Disseminating information regarding insurance fraud Padhee said that it has been observed that several dishonest individuals are insuring on non-agricultural, government, and private property. Through a letter, collectors have been informed that in order to safeguard the interests of legitimate farmers, suitable action must be taken against all such dishonest individuals and their friends.
