Animated epic continues box office dominance with Rs106 crore in India
After the massive success of Mahavatar Narsimha at the box office, rumours of the film’s early OTT release have been making rounds on social media. However, the makers have issued a clear statement urging fans not to believe in unverified reports and confirming that the film is currently available only in theatres.
In an official post shared on Instagram, the production team wrote, “Stay away from rumours… We’ve been receiving a lot of buzz about Mahavatar Narsimha coming to OTT soon, but let us clarify: For now, our film is ONLY available in theatres across the whole wide world. We have not finalised any OTT platforms yet. Please believe only authentic updates shared from our official handles. Your trust keeps the Sanatani roar alive.”
Mahavatar Narsimha, directed by debutant Ashwin Kumar and written by Jayapurna Das, has struck a strong chord with audiences. The film has earned ₹106 crore at the Indian box office and crossed ₹120 crore globally, despite facing stiff competition from Bollywood releases like Dhadak 2 and Son of Sardaar 2.
Fans have also echoed the sentiment of the makers, calling the film a theatrical experience. Social media has been filled with comments praising the animation and storytelling, with many urging others to watch it on the big screen.
Produced by Kleem Productions and Hombale Films, the film is the first chapter in a planned seven-part animated Mahavatar Cinematic Universe, based on the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu. Mahavatar Narsimha retells the mythological story of the half-man, half-lion incarnation of Vishnu, who appears to protect Prahlad and destroy the tyrant Hiranyakashipu.
As the buzz continues, the makers remain focused on the film’s theatrical journey, with no immediate plans for a digital release.
