A warning about increasing water levels in many rivers as a result of heavy rains has been issued by the Water Resources Department. Chief Engineer Chandrashekhar Padhi of the Water Resources Department warned that waterlogging could occur in low-lying areas. Since yesterday, more than 50 mm of rain has fallen in 15 districts across 43 blocks. Twenty gates allow the Hirakud Dam to release water, and additional gates may be opened if necessary. Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Sundargarh are all predicted to see heavy rains. Due to choppy seas, fishermen are recommended to remain on shore until July 28. District Collectors have received a warning to adopt the appropriate safety measures.
From July 25 to 28, the SRC has warned fishermen not to go out to sea around the coast of North Odisha.
The district administrations have been advised to prepare for any potential emergency and adopt the appropriate safety measures. The SRC has also directed the district collectors to maintain a close watch on the administrative apparatus and promptly notify the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) of any undesirable circumstances.
