Sujit Meher from Odisha becomes the first Odia to be felicitated with the Indian Achiever’s Award, 2021 which was powered by the Government of India and the Indian Achiever forum. The event was held in New Delhi and he won for the category of Young Entrepreneur.
According to the reports, Sujit Meher who is a graduate of the National Institute of Fashion Design (NIFT), Bangalore is a fashion designer and entrepreneur. Originally, he is from Dhrmagarh, Kalahandi district and has given a new identity to Odisha handloom by branding it at the international level. He had also worked with the famed Bollywood film production house Eros International in Mumbai. He is also known for his association with NGOs to support a variety of causes and spread awareness of Indian traditional handlooms, designs and other Indian arts.

He stated that the Government of India is emphasising taking the Atmanirbhar Bharat programme forward through the Make In India scheme. He got rewarded for his contribution in exporting Indian handloom and achieving tremendous success.
He also added that he wants to involve more people from Odisha in his work and want proper marketing of their work.
