The dharna will last through Thursday night.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is also set to hold a demonstration a few kilometres away, which is likely to increase political tension in the city today as the key panchayat election draws near. A congressional protest is also planned. The demonstration against suspected corruption in the state will be launched by top leaders of the Bengal BJP, including the party’s state chief Sukanta Majumdar and leader of the opposition in the state legislative assembly, Suvendu Adhikari.The BJP held a rally on Tuesday in the heart of Kolkata.
