Man Who Climbed Red Fort Tomb On Republic Day Violence Arrested

Jaspreet Singh, 29-year-old who allegedly climbed on one of the tombs of Red Fort during the tractor rally by the protesting farmers on 26th January has been arrested by Delhi Police’s Crime Branch. 

As per the PTI news report, Delhi police informed that Singh who is the resident of Swaroop Nagar in northwest Delhi termed as one of the associates of Maninder Singh, who was arrested last week for allegedly swinging swords with the intent of motivating and energizing the protesters at Red Fort on Republic Day.

Maninder Singh as per the police had motivated around six people of the neighborhood in which Jaspreet was also one of the associates, who accompanied the tractor parade that went from the Singhu border towards  Mukarba Chowk. The police further informed that Maninder was radicalized by seeing provoking Facebook posts of different groups and would regularly visit the Singhu border and was highly motivated by speeches made by leaders.

As per the report, one of the officers stated that Singh is the person who was standing behind the accused Maninder Singh and later climbed up one of the tombs located on both sides of the rampart at Red Fort. He further stated that Singh is also seen in one of the pictures where he is been showing some offensive gesture while holding steel tensile installed at Red fort.

On January 26 thousands of protesters clashed with the police during the tractor parade called by the Farmer’s Union demanding a repeal of the Centre’s contentious farm laws. Around 300 police persons, as well as CRPF personnel, were injured, and many vehicles were damaged.
