On January 22, the idol of Lord Ram was installed in the recently built Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The birthplace of Goddess Sita, Punaura Dham, in the Sitamarhi region of Bihar, is currently being developed to make it a convenient destination for Hindu pilgrims. A complete development plan for the Punaura Dham temple was unveiled last year by the Nitish Kumar government, which was then allied with the Congress and RJD, at a cost of Rs 72.47.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish, who is currently in power with the BJP, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, pleading with him to connect Punaura Dham via road and rail. Subject: “Matter related to road and rail connectivity to Ma Sita’s birthplace located in Sitamarhi district at Punaura Dham,” the Hindi letter was written by Nitish. It congratulated Modi on building the Ayodhya Ram temple and informed him of the significance and sizable religious following that Ma Sita’s birthplace enjoys among her devotees.
Nitish pleaded with the PM to ensure that the Center’s Ram-Janki Marg project, which runs from Ayodhya to Sitamarhi, moves more quickly, citing that the Bihar government had purchased 50 acres of land to improve and beautify the Punaura Dham. In an effort to promote religious tourism and pilgrimages between the two revered birthplaces, the chief minister of Bihar has asked Modi to guarantee improved train connections between Sitamarhi and Ayodhya.
