No bilateral cricket matches between India and Pakistan until 2027

India will play Australia and England more frequently going forward with annual Test or white-ball series set (either home or away).

No bilateral series between India and Pakistan will take place between 2023 and 2027. The board left the columns for games against Pakistan “blank” in the Future Tours Program (FTP) that was distributed to all state associations.

The Indian men’s squad will play 38 Tests (20 at home and 18 away), 42 ODIs (21 each at home and away), and 61 T20Is (31 at home and 30 away) in the 2023–2027 cycle in addition to multi-nation competitions. The BCCI cannot decide on a bilateral series with Pakistan unless it receives approval from the Indian government.

Due to an annual ICC event and a larger dedicated window (75–80 days per season) for the Indian Premier League, the number of bilateral matches India will play across formats has decreased from the previous cycle (163 to 141); however, BCCI secretary Jay Shah indicated in a circular that the quality of the content had improved.

The frequency of home Test matches has increased, though, and there is now a better balance of top-notch opponents in all three international formats. A regular IPL season and a set home season also make it possible for the best possible preparation against top opponents in the correct setting before ICC competitions.

India will play Australia and England more frequently going forward with annual Test or white-ball series set (either home or away).Every two years, India will play 5-match Test series—one home series every four years—against both England and Australia on a home-and-away basis. Additionally, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is will be played as standalone trips (at home and away). As a result, India will play 5 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 5 T20Is (Home and Away) in the cycle versus Australia and England, which will consist of one annual series (either red ball or white ball) every year.

India will play 5 T20 Internationals at home against West Indies and New Zealand since T20 games against these nations are drawing more fan interest. The circular states that the BCCI considered three factors before deciding on the FTP.”Content,” which includes “balance across international formats; calibre of opponents throughout formats, both at home and away; regular home season; and fixed annual IPL windows.”
