Even though India is becoming one of the fastest-developing countries in the world, it is nevertheless conservative when it comes to issues like sex education.
Forget about that hotly debated topic—most Indian households view adolescent and teenage romance as forbidden. Parents find it awkward to talk about their school- or college-bound children’s partners.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has now made the decision to address the problem by including a pertinent chapter in its Value Education books for students in class IX that deals with relationships among teenagers.
According to India Today, there will be specialized chapters that explore the nuances of dating and relationships. The goal is to provide pupils a foundational understanding of the subject and define terms like “ghosting,” “catfishing,” and “cyberbullying.”
