Due to the rise in the cases of COVID-19 in many parts of states and detection of a new variant of coronavirus, “Holi” and “Dola Jatra” celebrations and associated religious and cultural congregations will not be allowed in public places across Odisha, as announced by Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena.
Recently, a fresh number of COVID-19 cases have emerged which can cause the lockdown situation like before, even the Odisha Government is considering the night curfew to be considered. The resurgence of SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) has been noticed in many parts like- Brazil, Germany, Italy, and France. Even in India places like Maharastra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Kerala have also witnessed the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19)
As per the official statement, religious rituals in temples will continue as usual with strict adherence to Covid protocols. People may celebrate Holi indoors with their family members. Anyone found violating this order shall be punished by the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other relevant laws, an order issued by the SRC read.
The official order stated that the nation and the states are passing through a critical situation due to the detection of a new variant of SARS-CoV 2and it is necessary for the people to strictly adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols for the containment of the spread of the infection.
The SRC’s order further stated that the collectors and Municipal Commissioners may impose an appropriate restriction on the entry of devotees into temples and celebrations in temples and religious places.
Due to the sudden rise of the cases in states festivals like “‘Dolayatra’ and ‘Holi’ which are the festivals of playing with colors and there will be physical touch will each other, the state has advised not to celebrate in public.
