BHUBANESWAR: In response to Cyclone Dana’s devastation, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will conduct an aerial survey today to assess the cyclone’s impact on the affected regions. The survey, scheduled to begin at 11:35 am, will be conducted by helicopter and is expected to last around two hours, covering the most severely hit areas.

Following the aerial assessment, the Chief Minister will meet with departmental officials at Lok Seva Bhawan to discuss immediate relief and recovery actions. Yesterday, CM Majhi held a review meeting with officials at the Special Relief Commissioner’s office to evaluate the post-cyclone situation and strategize on emergency measures for affected communities.

Recognizing the severe impact on residents, Majhi announced that shelter accommodations will be extended for an additional seven days in light of extensive flooding and damage to homes. The CM stressed that “the safety and well-being of the affected residents are the administration’s top priority.”

Preliminary assessments suggest that approximately 1.75 lakh acres of crops have been destroyed by Cyclone Dana, leaving many farmers facing significant losses. A full evaluation of the damage is ongoing, and compensation will be provided once the assessment is complete.

To expedite relief measures, Majhi has directed District Collectors to submit damage reports within seven days. Revenue department officials will focus on assessing damage to houses, while the Agriculture, Cooperation, and Statistics departments will evaluate crop and infrastructure losses. The state government aims to coordinate with relevant departments to ensure that aid reaches those in need swiftly.

With both immediate relief and long-term recovery in focus, Odisha’s leadership remains committed to supporting residents and restoring normalcy to cyclone-hit regions as quickly as possible.
