Odisha teachers protest in the streets of Bhubaneswar about “pending demands”

On Wednesday, teachers protested once more in front of the Odisha Legislative Assembly under the banner of the Joint Primary Teachers’ Association, asking that their varied requests be met.

Until their demands, which include a grade salary of Rs. 2800, six hypothetical increases, and the inclusion of the six-year contractual appointment tenure in the normal service time, are satisfied, the teachers have reportedly resolved to continue their protest.

If their requests are not addressed as soon as possible, the teachers’ group has also warned to escalate the demonstration. According to insiders, the group has been protesting its requests for the past six years.

“For the past six years, we have protested. Malay Kumar Jena, the association’s convener, said they would want to ask Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and School & Education Minister Sudam Marndi to meet their requests.

“We have been demonstrating since 2017. Additionally, we received a formal guarantee from the then-minister Badri Narayan Patra that our request for a grade pay of Rs. 2800 was being taken into account. However, our demands have not yet been met.A teacher who was demonstrating remarked, “We will keep protesting until our demands are not realized.
