Odisha To Boost NCC Presence With New Training Centres & Aviation Training

On Monday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, the Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), met at the Lok Seva Bhawan to talk about the NCC’s growth in Odisha. During the talks, it was disclosed that there are presently 60,000 NCC cadets in Odisha, and that number would rise to 90,000, according to an official press release. NCC units will be set up in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and other educational institutions around the state in order to accomplish this.

Three training facilities will be established in Cuttack, Berhampur, and Sambalpur to improve the abilities of NCC cadets in the state. In Cuttack and Berhampur, five acres of land have already been designated for this use, while ten acres will be allotted in Sambalpur. Furthermore, officials and personnel would be provided by the state government to create an NCC Group Headquarters in Koraput. Additionally, it has been decided to use the Jharsuguda Airport to instruct NCC cadets in aviation. The state government has set aside ₹1.5 crore to build a hangar at the airport for this reason.

According to the Chief Minister, the NCC is one of the nation’s most esteemed organizations for developing young people’s potential and directing their energies toward national service. He gave the state government instructions to provide whatever assistance required for the NCC’s growth in Odisha. Senior representatives from the NCC, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunj Bihari Dhal attended the meeting. Colonel Sagar Mohanty of the NCC and Arvind Agrawal, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Higher Education Department, will serve as the NCC’s liaison with the state government to guarantee the prompt execution of these directives.
