By the conclusion of current fiscal year, the state government plans to introduce the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Odisha. By the conclusion of the current fiscal year, the replacement card will be issued. Under the previous program, cardholders had access to healthcare at 950 private hospitals. People will have access to medical care at 27,000 hospitals nationwide following the introduction of the new program.
Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said “We are preparing to implement Ayushman Bharat Yojana Part 1 and 2 in Odisha by the end of the current financial year. A meeting has been held with the Chief Minister in this regard and discussions are underway with the Central Government. The scheme will be launched and cards will be issued by the end of the current financial year. There will be one card for both Ayushman Yojana and Gopabandhu Arogya Yojana. Around 3.5 crore beneficiaries will get the special health card.”
In addition, Mahalinga has announced that 250 radiographers will be sent to different government hospitals around the state. Mahaling said that a significant awareness-raising effort will be started to fight cervical cancer. The government intends to establish health camps at universities and schools as part of this program, which will also enable vaccination efforts. To guarantee that everyone gets access to this life-saving treatment, these camps will offer free vaccines. The health minister underlined that young girls in India are especially susceptible to cervical cancer. At the central level, talks are taking place to address this problem by promoting preventive and increasing awareness. Eliminating cervical cancer as a public health issue is the aim.
