White House trade advisor Peter Navarro has once again taken aim at India, this time extending his criticism to the entire BRICS bloc. Doubting the alliance’s longevity, Navarro claimed that none of its member nations “would survive without selling to the U.S.”
His remarks came with a provocative reference to “vampires,” marking yet another sharp rebuke following days of criticism over India’s oil trade with Russia.
Navarro’s attacks follow U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to impose an additional 25% tariff on Indian imports—effective August 27—bringing total duties to 50%. The move, seen as a penalty for New Delhi’s continued trade ties with Moscow, has further strained economic relations between Washington and New Delhi.
