Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday welcomed the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan between Israel and Hamas, describing it as a positive step toward achieving lasting peace in the region.
Expressing optimism that the agreement will bring stability to Gaza, Modi said the release of hostages and increased humanitarian aid would “bring much-needed relief and pave the way for enduring peace.”
The Prime Minister also commended Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s leadership, reaffirming India’s support for all diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring calm and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Modi’s remarks came shortly after President Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had reached a US- and Qatari-brokered agreement for the release of hostages and a partial troop withdrawal.
