A viral tweet by an Indian web developer has triggered an intense online debate about the use of artificial intelligence in education after he revealed using Perplexity AI’s Comet browser to finish a Coursera course on “AI Ethics, Responsibility and Creativity.”
The user shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing Comet automatically answering questions and completing the course, proudly writing, “Just completed my Coursera course,” while thanking Aravind Srinivas, Perplexity, and Comet AI.
Reacting to the post, which garnered over three lakh views, Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas sharply warned, “Absolutely don’t do this.” His response ignited a flood of comments — while some users humorously suggested giving the course certificate to Comet, others raised serious concerns about the integrity of education in the AI era.
Srinivas, a 31-year-old entrepreneur from Chennai, co-founded Perplexity AI and recently became India’s youngest billionaire, as per the Hurun India Rich List 2025, which pegged his net worth at ₹21,190 crore.
