Subhra Mishra: A Trailblazer in Sports, Corporate Leadership, and Social Change.

When you make a mistake, it is part of your nature (Prakruti). When you accept that mistake, it shows your ethics (Sanskriti). And when you start correcting it, that is progress (Pragati).

Mrs. Subhra Mishra is a name that embodies inspiration, dedication, and the true essence of a multifaceted woman. She is the Head of Corporate Affairs at SPARC Pvt. Ltd., a reputed company in the GIS and IT sector, where she has been a driving force in the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. But her journey is not just about corporate leadership. It is about sports, community service, and an unbreakable spirit that refuses to be limited by circumstances.

Born and raised in Bhubaneswar, the City of Temples, Mrs. Mishra’s journey began with a deep love for sports. From a young age, she had an athlete’s spirit, always striving to push her limits. One of the most touching stories from her childhood is about a promise her father made to her—if she won a championship, he would buy her a pair of sports shoes. With unwavering determination, she practiced barefoot, refusing to let limitations hold her back. Her name was well known at Unit 4 Girls High School for winning prizes in sports competitions across different places. But as she grew older, the responsibilities of life, career, and family took priority. She got a job, got married, and embraced the roles expected of her. However, one thing she never let go of was her love for sports.

Even after stepping into her new life as a wife and later a mother, she found ways to stay connected to her passion. She took up golf, a sport she had never played before, and within no time, she was making her mark. The first time she participated in a major tournament, she won the Kolkata Open and then the Mumbai Open in the same year. She started from the bronze category, competing against experienced players, but her dedication soon took her to the gold category, where the competition was much tougher. Yet, she thrived. She played in various prestigious matches across India in cities like Delhi, Noida, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Shillong, Jaipur, and Vishakhapatnam, as well as internationally in Thailand. She often recalls how seeing an 80-year-old woman on the golf course motivated her to keep going. If that woman could do it, why couldn’t she? That thought pushed her to excel, making her a true inspiration for people of all ages.

But Mrs. Mishra’s story is not just about personal achievements; it is about how she has worked tirelessly to give back to society. When she was newly married and living in Sailashree Vihar, Bhubaneswar, she noticed something that deeply troubled her. The children in the area had no proper place to play. They were playing cricket and badminton on the streets, where they were exposed to risks. Instead of merely feeling sorry for the situation, she decided to take action. She gathered the women in her neighbourhood and took the initiative to create a community park with badminton court for the children. But it didn’t stop there. She encouraged the women to play as well, ensuring that physical activity and sports became a part of their lives too.

As she spent more time observing the needs of the community, she realized that the issue of playgrounds for children was a city-wide problem. With her determination and leadership, she and her friends persuaded the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), which led to creation of about 70 more such community parks in different areas of Bhubaneswar. She describes the joy of seeing children play in those parks as one of the happiest moments of her life. It was not just about providing a safe space for children; it was about giving them a childhood filled with happiness, freedom, and opportunities to grow.

Her commitment to society extends far beyond playgrounds. One of her most heartfelt initiatives is her association with the MAN Trust Bhubaneswar, which works for specially-abled children. Under her leadership, SPARC Pvt. Ltd. has made efforts to integrate these children into society, hosting them at the company’s office and visiting them at the trust for interactions filled with warmth and encouragement. She believes that making these children feel valued is just as important as providing material support.

She has also been actively involved in supporting orphanages such as Ama Ghara and Bugin Ho. Her efforts in healthcare have included organizing blood donation drives and health camps in collaboration with well-known hospitals. She believes that true social work is not about occasional acts of charity but about continuous and meaningful efforts that bring real change to people’s lives.

Beyond all these contributions, Mrs. Mishra is also a strong advocate for women’s empowerment. She has always encouraged women to step out of their comfort zones, engage in sports, and become active members of their communities. She firmly believes that today’s generation is often too absorbed in digital screens, missing out on the real-world connections that make life meaningful. Her advice to young people is simple yet powerful: never be afraid to express yourself. You never know who might be looking up to you for inspiration.

She has a philosophy that she lives by: when you make a mistake, it is part of your nature (Prakruti). When you accept that mistake, it shows your ethics (Sanskriti). And when you start correcting it, that is progress (Pragati). This belief has guided her through every phase of her life, allowing her to constantly evolve and grow.

Mrs. Subhra Mishra is not just a corporate leader, not just a sportswoman, and not just a social worker; she is a woman who has embraced every role with passion, determination, and an unwavering commitment in making the world a better place. Whether she is excelling on the golf course, or leading a corporate initiative, or working for the betterment of society, she carries the same energy and dedication.

Throughout her journey, Mrs. Mishra has never forgotten the people who stood by her and shaped her into who she is today. She wholeheartedly credits her success to her supportive parents, who instilled in her the values of hard work from a young age. She is deeply grateful to her in-law’s family, husband and children and friends whose unwavering encouragement has allowed her to pursue her dreams fearlessly. She also acknowledges the immense role her coach played in training her, refining her skills. But above all, she humbly recognizes the importance of those she played alongside. “Even my co-player is a big role player in my success—after all, without them, how would I have played this better?” she says with gratitude. Her words reflect the deep sense of appreciation and humility that define her personality, making her not just an achiever but a true team player in every aspect of life

Mrs. Subhra Mishra is, and always will be, an inspiration to many.
