WB panchayat elections: 16 people have died; today is the final day of voting

According to authorities, one guy who was killed in an explosion at Beldanga while building rudimentary bombs has been identified.At Beldanga in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, one person was killed in an explosion while he was allegedly making crude bombs, bringing the state’s recorded panchayat poll-related death toll to 16, according to authorities.

“While manufacturing rudimentary bombs, a person was killed in a blast at Beldanga. He’s been recognised. We’re looking into it,” a policeman stated.A BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) employee was discovered deceased at Md Bazar in Birbhum district in a separate occurrence. In the next panchayat elections, his wife is running as an independent.The final day of campaigning for all political parties is Thursday, and the panchayat elections are set for Saturday (July 8).On July 11, the ballots will be tallied.

On June 24, according to authorities, another person was killed in a related explosion while reportedly manufacturing improvised explosive devices in a jute field near Beldanga.
A commission to uphold peace and order was established by West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose in response to such episodes of violence connected to the election.Former Calcutta High Court Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee will serve as the chairman of the “Peace and Harmony Committee.”
