Supreme Court to hear Sourav Ganguly’s case soon

The fate of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chairman Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah and joint secretary Jayesh George may be decided by the Supreme Court. A case has been pending against the three for a long time. The Supreme Court will decide whether the three will remain in office. The BCCI’s constitution was passed by the Supreme Court in August 2016. The three are then in the cooling off period. As a rule, all BCCI cricket administrators have to resign within three years. Their term ends in mid-2020.

The two judges, chaired by Justice El Nageshwar Rao, will hear the case on Thursday. According to a report in Outlook, Justice Nageshwar Rao and Justice Bineet Sharan have called the case an important case. The case is set to be heard on Thursday, despite Covid’s ban.

Justice Rao is keen to hear the BCCI’s case. Earlier, in 2014, he investigated gambling and match-fixing cases. In February this year, Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta slammed The BCCI Council for taking the case forward. Justice Rao said he could not adjourn the case. The case has been adjourned four times already, and will not be adjourned, we cannot do so … March 23 was announced but the hearing was not held on the 23rd. He said Justice Rao was busy hearing the Maratha Reservation case on the 23rd.

The BCCI wants Sourav Ganguly, Jayesh George and Jay Shah to do their job in the cooling off period. The bench also accepted the plea of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association secretary Yudhbir Singh. The constitution does not allow any government official to join the BCCI or the State Association. Sourav Ganguly recently said that he would decide his future after the Supreme Court’s decision.
