The Higher Education government stated on Saturday that 233 colleges’ principals and head clerks’ wages will be withheld due to suspected carelessness. The department criticized the Assistant Director of the department’s failure to follow earlier instructions despite repeated warnings in a letter to all the college presidents of those institutions.

“Despite several requests, you have not responded to the Assistant Director’s letters with the necessary information. It demonstrates egregious carelessness on your side in performing your official duties, combined with a failure to follow directions from Higher Education Department officials, according to the letter. The department instructed the principals to hold off on withdrawing and releasing their own pay as well as that of the head clerk and clerk of the affected institutions for the month of May 2023 until the agency gave its approval and the directives were followed.

The colleges include five from Angul, twelve from Balasore, sixteen from Bargarh, one from Bhadrak, twenty-three from Bolangir, one from Boudh, and twenty-four from Cuttack.
