The 40-foot-tall hockey player monument that was placed close to the Rourkela airport during the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup five months ago fell to the ground on Sunday, putting the Rourkela Municipal Corporation in a difficult situation. In advance of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023, a source said that the enormous statue honoring hockey players was installed in the first week of January of this year. Since a small park with fountains was created close to the monument, it quickly became a favorite place for locals to unwind.
The picture would have been different if there had been a statue in the park when the statue fell to the ground. The locals blamed the statue’s fall on shoddy workmanship and the use of inferior materials.
The statue has been finished in the interim. In this respect, when reached by phone, Dr. Subhankar Mohapatra, commissioner of the Rourkela Municipal Corporation, stated that a committee had already been established to look into the circumstances surrounding the failure of the legislation. After the occurrence, residents of the city have begun to express concerns about the durability of other buildings put in place in the city.
