After a 22-hour long search operation, the bodies of two ‘Kanwariyas’ were found floating in Salandi river today morning. The duo went missing on Monday after being swept away in a swollen river.
According to reports, as many as 18 Kanwariyas from Sanajayi village had collected holy water from Salandi river in Barada and were scheduled to go to Sindhukeshwar Mahadev temple.
On their way to the temple, two of them – Rajendra Sahu and Subrat Mahakud slipped into the overflowing river and were swept away. After an extensive search by the ODRAF and Fire Service teams, the duo could not be traced.
Today morning their bodies were recovered from the river. The village deeply mourned the deaths of the two Kanwariyas who were on a holy journey.
