Odisha -Tata Steel Ink MoU To Establish High Performance Centres In Archery, Sports Climbing

The array of High-Performance Centers in Odisha will now include two additional disciplines. On Wednesday, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik between Odisha and Tata Steel to create High Performance Centers for Olympic sports like sport climbing and archery.

The establishment of the Odisha Tata Steel Adventure Foundation Sport Climbing Academy and the Odisha Tata Archery Academy in Bhubaneswar is intended to foster the growth of athletes in these fields. In addition, regional development centers for archery will be established, and both academies will conduct community-based initiatives.

These HPCs, under the direction of professionals, will spot and develop extraordinary talent, enabling them to compete on a national and worldwide scale and offering first-rate training and infrastructure. These facilities will act as hubs to help aspiring athletes reach their greatest potential.

Players scouted from state sports hostels, state-level programs, and national-level programs will be featured in these academies. For their all-around development, the athletes will also have access to the sports facilities of the Sports & Youth Services Department, which include the swimming pool, gymnasium, and India’s largest sports science center at Kalinga Stadium.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his happiness to work with Tata Steel on the project at hand. Our collaboration with Tata Steel for the Hockey High Performance Center has been excellent and has yielded positive outcomes. With this new association, we will be able to work together to create an environment that will support athletes in these disciplines. Archery and sports climbing have a lot of potential in Odisha and the nation.
