VD Satheesan, the leader of the opposition, stated that they regard the governor’s move as an outright betrayal of the Assembly. On the first day of the new session of the state Assembly, governor Arif Mohammed Khan spoke for less than two minutes, reading only the last paragraph of his policy speech, further escalating the divide between the Kerala administration and the Raj Bhavan.”Honourable speaker, chief minister, ministers, leader of opposition and members, it is my honour and privilege to address this august body of representatives of the people of Kerala, marking the beginning of the 10th session of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly,” governor Khan said as he stood to begin the policy address after the playing of the national anthem.”Remember that our greatest legacy is not in structures or monuments, but rather in the reverence and esteem we accord the priceless heritage of the Indian Constitution and the ageless principles of democracy, secularism, federalism, and social justice,” he remarked. The fundamentals of cooperative federalism are what have sustained the strength and unity of our nation over the years. We have a moral obligation to make sure that this essence is not compromised. We shall weave the fabric of inclusive growth and responsible resilience together as members of this diverse and lovely country, conquering any obstacle that comes our way.
