AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s “Low Vision Clinic,” housed at the Department of Ophthalmology, is a welcome development for individuals with visual impairments. In the presence of Dr. Praveen Vasisth from the Dr. R.P. Centre, AIIMS Delhi, Medical Superintendent Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida, and DEAN Dr. Prashant Raghab Mohapatra, AIIMS Bhubaneswar Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas officially opened the clinic.
Patients with reduced vision brought on by glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetes, and retinal disorders will benefit from the clinic. These patients will be able to live independent lives and perform their daily tasks with the use of low vision devices. This is the first vision clinic of its kind in any Odisha government institution.
This innovative clinic was established in partnership with Dr. R.P. Centre, AIIMS Delhi, and Cristoffel Blinden Mission (CBM), Germany, by the top health institute situated in Bhubaneswar. In order to transform lives and promote a sense of empowerment, the clinic promises to provide visual rehabilitation services to individuals in need on a regular basis.
Inaugurating the pioneering initiative Executive Director Dr. Biswas praised the initiatives of the Ophthalmology department and acknowledged the transformative impact of the clinic. Emphasizing the importance of regular patient follow-up and expressed gratitude to AIIMS Delhi for their support under the “ROSHINI” project.
