Parts of northern India are still suffering from a protracted heatwave that has disrupted daily life. In numerous states, the temperature rose beyond 45°C, reaching 48.8°C in the city of Barmer in Rajasthan state. According to India’s meteorological authority, the heatwave is probably going to last through Wednesday.
Due to increases in power use, certain areas are experiencing shortages of both water and electricity. The Indian metropolis of Delhi saw its highest-ever peak power consumption of 8,000MW.
This week, Delhi is seeing a severe heat wave with highs of 45 to 46 degrees Celsius. According to meteorologists, the excessive humidity has caused the heat index, or apparent or experienced temperature, to surpass 50 degrees Celsius. The city’s hospitals have established specialized units to care for patients suffering from heat-related ailments, which are also becoming more common.
