The Indian hockey team, which won an Olympic bronze medal, met BJD leader and Opposition Leader Naveen Patnaik at his Bhubaneswar home, Naveen Nivas. The players met former chief minister and opposition leader Naveen Patnaik at his home, escorted by Hockey India president Dilip Tirky. The players received a silver filigree Konark wheel and a stole as a thank-you from Naveen Patnaik.
Patnaik commended the players on their achievements on this particular occasion and advised them on how to keep up the good work to elevate the nation’s prestige in the coming days. Naveen informed the hockey team that Odisha and India are hoping to win a gold medal in hockey at the forthcoming Olympics. Patnaik received autographed jerseys from the players. Players stated that Indian hockey has returned to its former glory because of the support of the Odisha people, and they would always be appreciative of Odisha and the people of Odisha for their cooperation and support.
