The Mumbai Traffic Police have received a death threat aimed at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, warning of his murder “like Baba Siddique” if he does not resign within ten days. This threat comes on the heels of the recent assassination of Baba Siddique, a former minister and NCP leader, who was shot dead near his son’s office in Bandra on October 12.
The threatening message was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp helpline from an unknown number, and authorities are actively working to identify the sender.
This incident is part of a troubling trend of death threats in Mumbai, particularly against actor Salman Khan, who has faced ransom demands and threats to his life. Earlier this year, shots were fired outside Khan’s residence, leading to the arrests of several individuals linked to these threats, including a vegetable seller from Jamshedpur and a tattoo artist from Noida, both of whom are currently in police custody for questioning.
One of the messages also mentioned Zeeshan Siddique, an MLA and son of the late Baba Siddique. The gang responsible for Baba Siddique’s murder has previously threatened Salman Khan, referencing his involvement in the blackbuck hunting case during the filming of “Hum Saath Saath Hain” in Rajasthan. The Bishnoi gang has also been linked to the April shooting outside Khan’s home, prompting a significant increase in security for the actor.
