In observance of International Women’s Day 2025, Rama Devi Women’s University hosted a youth seminar on Sunday. The purpose of the event was to get young people talking about important social issues, women’s rights, and empowerment. As the conference’s main guest, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida engaged directly with Rama Devi Women’s University students as well as those from other institutions in attendance. The Deputy Chief Minister covered a number of significant subjects in her speech, including gender inequity, mental health, women’s engagement in the economy, sexual violence, women’s empowerment, and women’s role in politics.
She emphasized that women’s rights will be further strengthened by empowering young people and boosting their self-esteem. “Empowering women is more than simply a catchphrase. The process is ongoing and will be transmitted from one generation to the next. She asserted that if a mother had courage, her daughter would also possess it.
She also emphasized the need to change how society views women and the significance of striking a balance between work and raising children. “In today’s evolving society, mental health is crucial, and it’s important to maintain good mental health alongside talent and qualifications,” she continued. In order to promote their mental health, the Deputy Chief Minister urged young ladies to engage in yoga and pranayama. She also reassured the crowd that the government continues to place a high premium on women’s safety.
She also shared her belief that those who cause harm are the true victims, not the ones who suffer. The event was also attended by Shubha Sharma, Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, Monisha Banerjee, Director of Women & Child Development, and faculty members from Rama Devi Women’s University.
