State-owned NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) has secured a significant 200 MW wind power project from SJVN Ltd through an e-reverse auction at a tariff of Rs 3.74 per kWh. This project marks a major milestone in NLCIL’s renewable energy journey, which began in 2013 with its 51 MW wind project. The latest win will further enhance the company’s wind energy portfolio, pushing its total wind power capacity beyond 300 MW, including ongoing projects. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman & Managing Director of NLCIL, expressed that the company’s growing investments in renewable energy reflect its strong commitment to sustainable and clean energy solutions. He emphasized that the new project would contribute significantly to strengthening India’s green economy and supporting the nation’s global climate commitments.
The 200 MW wind project is aligned with India’s ambitious goals under the National Green Energy Policy, aiming to increase non-fossil fuel-based power generation. It supports the government’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. With this addition to its portfolio, NLCIL is set to play a crucial role in meeting India’s renewable energy objectives and enhancing the nation’s energy security. The new development highlights the growing importance of wind energy in the country’s efforts to transition to a greener, more sustainable future.
