Born and raised in Barbil, a region pulsating with the energy of India’s mining industry, Vasani’s journey was anything but conventional. His early years were steeped in the practical realities of logistics, but his academic pursuits took him to Kolkata, where he studied Chartered Accountancy. Yet, numbers on a ledger couldn’t compare to the dynamism of the transport sector. Seeing beyond roads and trucks, Vasani recognized an untapped opportunity—to transform logistics from a fragmented service into an organized, scalable operation that could power industrial growth.
Under his leadership, what began as a small-scale transportation service soon evolved into a sector-leading enterprise. Today, KPS Logistics independently moves nearly 10 million tons of iron ore, standing tall among the key players in the Koida, Barbil, and Joda regions, known as Odisha’s key mining hubs. With partnerships with giants like Tata Steel, ArcelorMittal, SAIL, JSPL, and the Rashmi Group, the company is on a trajectory to reach 20 million tons, redefining what’s possible in the industry.
A defining factor in this success has been Vasani’s bold move toward strategic infrastructure investment. Where others relied on market vehicles, he built an independent fleet—now over 500 trucks strong—one of the largest in Kendujhar district, which is part of the Singhbhum-Keonjhar-Banei iron belt. This move wasn’t just about ownership; it was about control, reliability, and the ability to meet large-scale demands without bottlenecks. It was a game-changer.
Yet, success didn’t come without hurdles. The logistics and mining sector is rife with challenges, from infrastructure limitations to environmental compliance. Rather than navigating around these issues, Vasani confronted them head-on. He implemented strict pollution control measures, enforced vehicle safety protocols, and built a team dedicated to ensuring sustainable operations. By turning compliance into a competitive advantage, KPS Logistics has set a new industry standard for responsible logistics.
Even market volatility failed to shake the company’s momentum. The iron ore sector has seen its share of downturns, but KPS Logistics thrived where others struggled. In a few short years, turnover skyrocketed from 350 crores to 800 crores, proving that a target-driven approach and unwavering consistency can outlast economic uncertainty. By aligning its success with that of its clients, the company built lasting relationships and positioned itself as an indispensable logistics partner.
But Vasani’s vision extends beyond business metrics. KPS Logistics is deeply rooted in community-driven development. Employment creation isn’t just an offshoot of business growth; it’s a conscious mission. Today, the company directly supports 700 individuals, including drivers, helpers, and managerial personnel.
“We believe that our development should be inclusive. If we are growing, those working with us should grow as well. This philosophy has driven our commitment to local employment and community development,” Vasani affirms.
While expansion into Jharkhand and West Bengal is part of the company’s growth, Odisha remains its heartland. Vasani acknowledges the state’s progressive business policies and sees Odisha as a future logistics hub. With continued infrastructure advancements and strategic investments, KPS Logistics is poised for an even greater impact in the coming years.
Looking ahead, Vasani’s vision is crystal clear: double the logistics capacity to 20 million tons and create twice the employment opportunities within the next few years.
