Odisha To Build New Paradeep Airport, Upgrade Five Others Under B-MAAN Initiative

Through its recently developed Building Management of Aviation Assets and Network (B-MAAN) project, the Odisha government has unveiled a significant plan to improve the state’s transportation and civil aviation infrastructure. When Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, the minister of commerce and transportation, presented the department’s ₹3,651 crore demand spending to the Odisha Legislative Assembly, he disclosed the information. The ambitious plan allots ₹328 crore for the development of civil aviation. The construction of a new greenfield airport at Paradeep and the renovation of the current airports at Jeypore, Dandabosh, Rangeilunda, Jamadarapali, and Tusara are important projects.

Additionally, the state will proceed with plans to expand the Biju Patnaik Aviation Centre in Dhenkanal and build a second international airport in Puri. The government will pay for all training costs for ten indigenous women to become pilots through an airline cadet program as part of a major skill development project. In addition to aviation, the budget for the transport department contains ₹2,483 crore for mass transit network expansion and ₹466 million for updating the road transport authority system. The state will launch 12 new super-premium AC sleeper buses on important routes, such as Bhubaneswar to Tirupati, Indore (via Ujjain), Shirdi (via Nagpur), Ayodhya (via Varanasi), Hyderabad (via Visakhapatnam), and Bhilai (via Raipur), in an effort to improve interstate connection.
