India Highlights Role Of Small Farmers For Global Food Security At BRICS Meet

At the meeting held in Brazil on Sunday, India’s Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized the importance of small farmer empowerment, global food security, and technology collaboration in strengthening the BRICS alliance. The Union Minister also emphasized the potential for boosting Indian soy production and exports. According to him, India is eager to provide its farmers access to international technology.

In order to improve agricultural commerce, technology, and innovation between India and Brazil, Minister Chouhan, who led the Indian delegation at the 15th BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ conference, met with his Brazilian counterpart in bilateral sessions. India is totally dedicated to inclusive, egalitarian, and sustainable agriculture, according to the Union Minister. He continued by saying that India always adheres to the principle of trust and collaboration with other nations, echoing the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.” In order to assist farmers and agricultural businesses from other nations, he urged for increased collaboration in agricultural technology, innovation, capacity building, and trade facilitation.

A tangible step towards technological innovation, increased productivity, and international collaboration for Indian agriculture, Minister Chouhan’s trip to Brazil has the potential to directly assist farmers. Agriculture ministers and high-ranking officials from India, host Brazil, and the BRICS nations—Russia, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Iran—attended the 15th BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting in Brasilia. “Promoting inclusive and sustainable agriculture through cooperation, innovation, and equitable trade among BRICS countries” was the meeting’s central focus. India-Brazil agricultural cooperation is anticipated to take a new turn as a result of Minister Chouhan’s visit, increasing agricultural commerce between the two nations.
