According to a proposal endorsed by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, unseasonable rainfall should be classified as a state-specific disaster. The move, which was made public on X (previously Twitter) by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO Odisha), is intended to help farmers who are impacted by erratic weather.
The State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) will now be able to help farmers who have suffered losses as a result of unseasonable rainfall. According to the criteria, such state-specific disasters may be addressed with up to 10% of the SDRF’s yearly allotment.
