SHILLONG/GHAZIPUR/INDORE – In a chilling revelation, the autopsy report of Raja Raghuvanshi has confirmed he died from two fatal head injuries likely inflicted by a sharp weapon, intensifying the brutality of the case that has sent shockwaves across states.
Meghalaya SIT Chief Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor confirmed, “The post-mortem states two head injuries caused by a sharp cutting weapon.” Raja’s body was recovered after days of intensive search, and a murder case has since been registered.
The investigation took a dramatic turn after the arrest of Raja’s wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, who was found near a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway and surrendered to Uttar Pradesh police. Meghalaya police confirmed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is en route to Ghazipur to formally arrest her and seek transit remand.
“Despite terrain and weather challenges, we discovered the body, registered the case, and arrested four individuals. Two teams were dispatched—one to Uttar Pradesh and one to Madhya Pradesh. Initial patterns suggest Raja and Sonam did not share a healthy relationship, but that remains under investigation,” said SP Kharkongor.
The Murder Plot and Love Affair
Indore’s Additional Deputy Police Commissioner, Rajesh Dandotiya, revealed that Sonam, 25, was allegedly in an extramarital relationship with Raja Kushwaha. Kushwaha is said to have orchestrated the murder by hiring Vishal Chauhan, Anand Kumar, and Akash Rajput to kill Raja Raghuvanshi.
Sonam reportedly supported the plan by sharing Raja’s location with the assassins, facilitating the fatal attack.
All suspects are expected to be produced before court, with further remand procedures underway to bring them to Shillong for custodial interrogation. The investigation continues to unravel a tale of betrayal, conspiracy, and cold-blooded murder.
