At Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and leader of the opposition, Naveen Patnaik, had a successful cervical arthritis operation. Under his personal physician, Dr. Ramakant Panda, the procedure was carried out. Dr. Panda states that Patnaik is being monitored at the moment and should be released in five to seven days. According to Dr. Panda, “the former chief minister is active and conscious, and his condition is stable.”
In the presence of physicians from the Asian Heart Institute, a group of skilled surgeons carried out the procedure, which took around two hours. During the therapy, Patnaik’s sister-in-law and brother, Prem Patnaik, were there. Dr. Ramakant Panda, Patnaik’s personal physician, will continue to supervise his care.
Party officials and workers around Odisha expressed their deepest prayers in response to the news of Patnaik’s hospitalization, and crowds were observed at several temples, such as Baba Jhadeswar in Balasore and Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar. Supporters gave puja and “dipa dana” in hopes of Patnaik’s quick recovery.
