In order to conduct a strategic review of mining operations, with a particular emphasis on production efficiency, safety, and sustainable practices, Sudhansu Mohan Samal, the Managing Director of Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd. (OMC), visited the Corporation’s Gandhamardan and Daitari Iron Ore Mines in Keonjhar district on Saturday. The MD visited important locations at Gandhamardan Mines, such as the Ore Stock Area, Quarry, and Control Command Center, accompanied by Director (HR) Alok Kumar Pal, Director (Finance) Bana Bihari Pani, and other senior officials. In order to guarantee a consistent supply of ore to industries, he asked teams to increase output in order to reach yearly dispatch requirements. Samal placed a strong focus on adopting sustainable mining practices, eradicating theft, and rigorous environmental compliance.
He recognized the current digital surveillance systems at the Control Command Center and demanded their modernization to improve safety supervision and real-time monitoring. He also went over the facilities for staff welfare, restating OMC’s dedication to worker health and safety. Samal thoroughly examined the Quarry, Ore Handling Plant (OHP), Baliparbat Ore Stockyard, and Daitari Railway Siding (DRS) while he was in the Daitari mines. He promoted enhanced mechanization at the OHP to increase production and emphasized continuous quarry operations in accordance with rules.
At the Baliparbat Stockyard, the MD oversaw enhanced digital tracking, appropriate grade segregation, and methodical stacking. To guarantee on-time delivery, he placed a strong emphasis on effective ore evacuation, logistical coordination, and quicker rake loading at the Daitari Railway Siding. Samal emphasized the necessity for balanced growth and advised mining teams to combine innovation, environmental responsibility, and production objectives. In order to generate long-term benefit for Odisha, he demanded more responsibility and alignment with OMC’s objective of sustainable and responsible mining.
